Economic Empowerment for At-Risk Women

Without a high school diploma, working-class Thais struggle to make a living wage and provide for their families—one reason the red-light areas attract so many women and girls.

At The Well we assist with continuing education, but most of the women who join us also need to learn marketable skills so they can care for themselves and their families with dignity, even after they leave the program.

The demand for quality coffeehouses in Bangkok is growing. A well-trained, knowledgeable barista with basic English can receive a decent salary. Women with skills in restaurant management, and marketing, finance, and other business skills can go on to become entrepreneurs.

At our new Connect Center Cafe, women have the opportunity to learn these vocational skills in a friendly, safe environment.

We were able to purchase this high-capacity commercial espresso machine in January 2019.
