Our dream is to build a network in Thailand that provides direct service to those suffering from trauma-based disorders, trains practitioners, and provides education and advocacy in Thai society.
Thai culture has wonderful values of kindness, gentleness and generosity. However, due in part to a shame-based culture that emphasizes economic success, social problems tend to be ignored, solutions scarce and poorly funded.
Despite Thailand’s notoriously large sex industry that exploits hundreds of thousands, pandemic substance addiction, and high rates of sexual and family abuse, there are very few prevention or treatment services for trauma-based disorders.
We envision an institute that provides broad, research-based resources and advocates for improving mental health services in Thailand. This is a big dream, and we’re looking for others with experience in social work and mental health to join us.
