History
Servantworks began in 2004 as an organization with the intent of encouraging Jesusness. Servantworks is the parent organization of The Well (บ่อน้ำ, boh nam) an organization based in Bangkok and reaching to victims of Thailand’s rampant sex industry. Through The Well, Servantworks later founded Narimon (thai translation) an organization dedicated to providing support through business to men and women exiting the sex industry. In layman’s terms, Servantworks is straight-up cool.
The ministry began as a brain-child of the illustrious Jim Larson, who conceived it during a stay in Bangkok on his way to a missions conference in Delhi. Heartbroken for the situation he witnessed on the streets of Bangkok, he resolved to do something about it (which is more than most of us can say for ourselves, let’s be honest).
In 2003 the Larson family went on a two-month trip to Bangkok to see if there was something they could do about it. By the end of the summer they had freed one girl from prostitution and found her a job working with a missionary in her own village. They knew they couldn’t stop there.
